When citing a source with three authors in APA style, you would list all three authors’ last names, separated by commas, in the first citation. Here’s the format:
(Author, Author, & Author, Year)
Example: (Smith, Johnson, & Williams, 2020)
In subsequent citations, you can use the first author’s last name followed by “et al.”:
(Author et al., Year)
Example: (Smith et al., 2020)
If you’re citing a specific page or range of pages, you would add the page numbers after the year:
(Author, Author, & Author, Year, pp. xx-xx)
Example: (Smith, Johnson, & Williams, 2020, pp. 12-15)
In the reference list, you would list all three authors’ names, separated by commas:
Author, A. A., Author, B. B., & Author, C. C. (Year). Title of the source. Publisher.
Example: Smith, J., Johnson, K., & Williams, R. (2020). The impact of climate change. Springer.
Note: If you’re citing a source with more than three authors, you would list only the first author’s name followed by “et al.” in all citations, unless you’re citing a specific page or range of pages.
